I disagree with the American Heart Association’s recent claim that coconut oil is unhealthy.
Coconut and coconut oil hs been the mainstay in Tropical and Asian diets for thousands of years, long before heart disease and neurological disorders became so common. These fats are medium chain triglycerides and lauric acid, which have manywonderful uses for the body. Some of the benefits include anti bacterial, viral, and fungal properties. There are many other positive effects, one of which includes supporting heart health.
Coconut oil is a wonderful oil for cooking because it is saturated and therefore is stable under high heat.
Please, don’t let the AHA Statement scare you. One only needs to look at history and other cultures to realize that coconut oil is a healthy food.
