My name is Tong Zhang. I am a national board-certified diplomate and a licensed acupuncturist in Virginia. Whether you would like to maintain wellness or overcome health challenges through natural means, I am here to assist you. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)’s approach in understanding body’s imbalance is through observation, auscultation/olfaction, inquiry and palpitation. Once a holistic diagnosis is determined, acupuncture, herbs, cupping, etc. will be selected as appropriate to assist the body back to its balanced state. I am specialized in general wellness improvement, depression and anxiety, and pain conditions including acute pain and chronic pain.

If you are new to TCM, you may schedule a 20-minute complimentary consultation.

A typical initial treatment includes an evaluation and a treatment therapy. Stay hydrated and eat a light meal or snack a few hours before your appointment. Wear or bring loose, comfortable clothes. Following treatment, some soreness or tenderness may be felt in the treated areas. This is similar to a post workout or deep tissue massage soreness which may last 1-2 days. Avoid strenuous physical activity and drink plenty of water after your treatment. Most conditions require follow up treatments for good results. Treatments are weekly or two times per week depending on the condition. Good results require team work. Together we can achieve your heath goals gradually over time.

A little bit about me. I was born and raised in Xian, Shaanxi, China. I completed my graduate education before coming to the United States for continued education over two decades ago. In my free time, I enjoy practicing Tai Chi/Qi Gong, gardening, and visiting art museums.
